State of the Art Dry Port at Aquina on the Silk Route on the Border of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan in association with Mir Projects

The main objective of the project is to promote export industry in Afghanistan and increase access of Afghan traders to European and Central Asian markets and make Afghanistan a leading trade player in Lajward route, and thus planned to develop a modern dry port in Aqina, strategically located at the border with the neighboring country of Turkmenistan. In future this port will be a trade and transshipment corridor between south and central Asian countries.

Services provided:

The scope was to

  • Develop Traffic and Demand Assessment,
  • Design of a Railway yard and related infrastructure,
  • Track alignment to the proposed Dry port
  • Entry and exit to the existing Railway network among others in consultation with the main clients Afghan Railways
